Marissa Miller is the pseudonym of a 26-year-old college graduate with West Indian roots. She hails from New York, but has resided in Florida and Kentucky in the past.
She was diagnosed with depression at the age of 14, and as of November 2006, received the diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Past medications included Paxil, Lexapro, and Effexor. She is currently on Lamictal, a long-term maintenance mood stabilizer. Her "expertise" in mental illness lies in suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
Miller holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and currently is attempting to take the plunge into the freelance world of writing, editing, or proofreading.
She currently lives in suburban Philadelphia with her husband and eventually plans to write a detailed account of her lifelong struggle with depression and a fictional young adult series.
depression introspection is a result of Miller's personal quest to discover, analyze, and question news and personal events relating to mental illness. Miller hopes to counsel and aid others who struggle with various forms of mental illness.
